Before we begin though, I think it is important to note one thing: TJ students are not aliens. We are allowed to write poorly for blogging purposes if we wish to do so. In fact, in a study I reviewed (yes TJ students do like to examine studies), it stated that texting will not affect our English language because it is in fact an entire other language. If you take a person from the 1900’s, they probably can’t read or can’t understand what our texts are saying. So please, do not criticize my writing abilities (I promise they are much better when I actually try writing for English).
So... Decision Day. Decision Day was hilarious for me. It came out during Spring Break on the 28th I believe (even though we were all told it was coming up on the 29th). I was not expecting results to come back this early at all. I found out that results had come out approximately 6 hours after they were released. Why did I find out so late? Well, it’s spring break and my parents have 0% trust in me so they won’t let me stay home alone the entire week, meaning I have to spend my spring break at some sort of camp- in this case Basketball. After reading the previous sentence, many hardcore Asians (I would guess about 60% of the readers based on recent statistics) will begin to say “WHAT WHY YOU NO GO TO SAT CAMP WHYWHYWHY”. Honestly, I have no answer. I thought I was gonna be shipped off to SAT camp too when my parents were like “Nope! Surprise! Time to play basketball 24/7!”. The hidden message behind this was: “ermagodursofatandlazyyouneedtogooutsideandgetsomehealthyexercisewhyismysonlikethishewillnevermakeTJ”.
Funny story mom and dad because while I was playing basketball that wonderful Thursday afternoon (I was totally dunking on all the hoops) you received an email that stated something like “Congratulations. Chad has made TJ!” ← okay actually I admit that sounds REALLY stupid but I don’t remember the exact wording for these things. The main thing to take away from this is that my dad almost burst out in tears at the office. The thought of it STILL makes me laugh.
So yep, mommy came to pick me up from basketball camp where she was like “I HAVE SOME VERY HAPPY NEWS FOR YOU”. The first time she told me, I thought she was lying because I was 76.34% sure that I failed on both of my essay writings. She had to tell me 5 times before I finally believed her and when I got home, I checked my email, pulled open the message, and read: “50/50: Math Section” To this day, I still brag about getting a 50/50 on the math section, even though its probably the stupidest thing to brag about.
Main rule of receiving important information: You must immediately post all results as a status message. Rule complied.
The only thing that sucks about this entire TJ process thing is people that don’t get in. I seriously miss some of the closest friends I made in middle school but I suppose thats life- you meet some people who really touch your heart and in the next moment they’re gone from your life. The only thing I can say to those people who didn’t get in and are beating themselves over it is this- base school is still awesome. Don’t underestimate your abilities here and strive to succeed. It is also important to note: Steve Jobs did not go to TJ yet he still made Apple. You can still do wonderful things at your base school.
Soooooooo I guess I’m done. That was kinda fun. I like blogging.
Stay awesome.
